Nullarbor, WA - Round and about

Entrance to the 'Head of Bight' Nullarbor, South Australia

Visited the 'Head of Bight' to see Whales looking after their young. The view of the coast line was spectacular.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA - Round and about

Kalgoorlie-Boulder, WA - Round and about

To give the location it's full title, it is Kalgoorlie Boulder, albeit they are two different (ajoining) locations.

The well known 'Super Pit' is actually in Boulder. Boulder is a very small community whilst Kalgoorlie is much larger.

Boulder was hit by a small Earthquake a few months ago and several buildings are under repair.

As we were here for just one night, we didn't get to see the surrounds, however, there was no literature for 'Attractions' and we didn't see any either.

Geraldton, WA - Round and about

Geraldton, WA - Round and about

We walked around Geraldton on a mini sight-seeing exercise. It is a relatively large, busy town by the Ocean, with most of the major retail outlets.

Monkey Mia, WA - Round and about

Monkey Mia, WA - Round and about

Day 1 - Arrived (after a long drive) and setup the caravan. Took a walk along the Beach
Entrance to the Monkey Mia Resort

Day 2 - Monkey Mia - Spent most of the day washing a pile of clothes (The resport only had bore water, so we used our own little washing machine and our own tank town water which did the job)

Denham town, Shark Bay, WA

Day 3 - Denham about 25 kilomtres from Monkey Mia. A nice little 'sea-side' resort. Just walked around as most places were closed (thank you Western Australia!) but we will be back later on in the week. Weather has 'down-graded (as usual) as we normally arrive in the sun and (low and behold) the winds and rain arrive within a few days but doesn't dampen our spirits.

One of two islands joined by the Denham main road.
One side is straddled by a variety of shops, pubs etc., whilst the other side is a walkway along the Ocean beach.

Burns Beach, WA - Round and about

Day 1 - Just looked around Burns Beach which was basically a new coastal suburb. New homes were being built, many with excellent Ocean views.

Day 3 - Intended to see Perth Zoo - Forgot it was school holidays so no parking! Our second choice
was Perth Botanical Gardens in Kings Park. I think I was told at the infomration centre that Kings Park is 2000 acres - It is certainly huge.

Day 4 - We decided to stay fairly local as we were under threat from heavy rain and strong winds. Based on that information we drove to Joonalup and spend a little of new clothing and lunch out. On arriving back to the caravan it started to rain and the wind arrived, however we survived! Given the lack of attractions (unless the 'Lakeside' shopping centre is considered an attraction) - we didn't take any photographs.

Day 5 - We clean up the caravan and prepare to meet Tracy for the weekend. Dining in and dining out are both on the agenda.

Day 6,7 & 8 - Spent the time with Tracy and Kristen. Dined in on Friday night, Dined out on Saturday night and dined out for breakfast on Sunday morning. Stayed another night as a result of the job list Tracy had created for me!

Day 9 - Returned to the caravan whilst high winds and heavy rain poured down. We had already lowered the TV Arial in order to protect it from the winds. The caravan is getting a fair buffeting, but (fingers crossed) winning the battle. Just tomorrow to go at Burns Beach, then on Wednesday, we hit the road again on our way to Ennabba, North of here and better weather is expected.

Mandura,WA - Round and about

Mandura,WA - Round and about

We arrived in Mandurah around lunch time so very little time to investigate the surrounds. Walked around the local area. Lots of new homes and land for sale. The water views from many of the homes looked fantastic.

May call into Bunbury tomorrow for some Dolphin watching, time permitting

Albany, WA - Round and about

Albany, WA - Round and about

Middleton Beach was on the 'to-do' list and didn't dissapoint as we saw a whale and her calf about 30 metres from the beach
Albany Sound, Albany, WA

Visited the Sandelwood factory just outside Albany and took the guided tour, very interesting and informative - bought a few goodies!

Took a morning Whale watching cruise. Although we saw the backs of the whales, I don't think they will appear in the photos or video - It was cold!!!!

Albany, WA. The Whale watching tour. We did get glimpses of some Whales, but nothing spectacular.

Norseman, WA - Round and about

Norseman, WA - Round and about

Norseman is a small sleepy town but takes pride in promoting it's heratige. There is a mine next to the town and a few nature walks that expose the country side. We walked around the town and shopped at the IGA grocery shop. It had all that we needed which was basically fresh vegetables.

We spent some time on Beacon Hill and drove around the area which was dominated by the mine.

Madura, WA - Round and about

Madura, WA - Round and about

Essentially, there is no 'round and about' that we could see or what was recommended. It is a roadhouse only, with space for caravans and offers petrol.
